KW Swimmers Make Waves!
KW Synchro’s recreational and competitive swimmers made waves across the province Nov. 21 and 22, competing in the Recreational Figures Meet in Orangeville and an Invitational Figures Meet in Guelph.
On Saturday, Nov. 21, swimmers from KW Synchro’s Intermediate programs traveled to Orangeville for their first-ever Figures Meet. Each swimmer performed three figures in front of a panel of Synchro Ontario officials, completed the timed swim for their age group, and demonstrated their splits. All swimmers did an outstanding job at their first meet, proudly representing KW Synchro and Kitchener-Waterloo. Special congratulations go out to Allison, who finished first in the 10-year-old age group figures, achieved the Gold Standard in split testing and clocked the fastest result in the 50 metre timed swim. Way to go Allison! In the 12-year-old category, her sister, Gillian posted the fastest result in the 100 metre timed swim and finished fifth in the figure event. Congratulations Gillian! In the eight-year-old group, Shereen finished a strong fourth figure event. Yeah Shereen!
Proving that hard work does pay off, KW Synchro Swimmers also excelled in their LTAD events for Suppleness and Stamina. In addition to Allison’s Gold Standard for being flat in all three splits, Hannah received the Bronze Standard for being flat in one split. In the Stamina or timed swim event, Meghan and Hannah earned a Gold Standard, Allison and Emily achieved Silver, and Celia swam to the Bronze Standard. Congratulations to all!
